Ebay Versus Craigslist
Are there other sites you use as well for buying/selling with success?
Just curious what others think. I love Ebay but it seems like people are not buying as much anymore. I used to always sell my auctions, maybe not for a huge profit but they almost always sold. It seems like recently things just do not sell. I like buying from Craigslist but the thought of a stranger coming into my home to buy something makes me feel a little weird. I may decide to just use CL from now on though, at least I won't have to pay listing fees for auctions that don't sell.
as far as ebay I don't like it to buy or sell I have bid on things and never ever have i got one so far and i posted things and i just end up losing money when i post it I never sold my items because i was a new member so i had no ratings.
so all in all I love craigslist the most and its FREE!!!
I like craigslist.
I don't like having to bid and wait for an item. I don't like paying shipping. I like that craigslist is local. I don't mind having strangers come to the house or going to their house. I've only done it a few times though. I've heard enough horror stories that I plan to meet in public places anymore,http://www.holisteroutlet.cc.
That siad I don't use either much.
ETA: I have never sold on ebay, and never will. I don't wan to pay fees. It's free and not just diapers there.
I like to sell on craigslist because i dont have to pay fees or accept paypal and then pay paypal fees. However things sell much cheaper IMO on craigslist then on ebay so if i have something worth a lot i would most likely sell it on ebay. But little things i list on craigslist first. As for buying i price shop, if i see it on craigslist and its cheaper then i can find on ebay with the cost of shipping i buy it on craigslist. Ebay normally has more to pick from though and im pretty good at finding good prices. So i shop more on ebay and sell more on craigslist
I've been selling on Ebay for three years now. I don't have a business or anything I just sell our old junk. It's amazing what people will buy. I've always had good luck on there. I think the way your listing look, your pictures and your pricing really determines if your item sells or not.
Cons: Can't sell big items, the fees (I sold some Coach purses recently for around $60$80 and the fees were $7$8 on each purse), running to the post office a lot to ship, possibility of receiving negative feedback from someone that isn't happy, takes time to list item and if you list alot you need to keep track of them (spreadsheet) Alot of Ebay selling is actually like a job and more formalPros: Can sell whatever you want no matter how big, Easy to list, doesn't take much time, no listing, selling fees, etc., deal with cash only, no going to post office
Cons: Takes time to meet people or have them come to your house which can be scary in its own way, have to deal with lots of emails from people negotiating or lowballing, items don't sell as much as all (I actually did an experiment on this and I sold clothes for a fraction of what I get on Ebay), no third parties it's just you and them which could be unpleasant if there are issues.
me, I had to weigh the idea that I didn't like dealing with people face to face versus the fees Ebay Paypal charge. There are certain things I do sell on Craigslist but only really big things that just can't be sold on Ebay. But honestly for me it comes down to money and even with the fees I still make more on Ebay.
Here is my favorite example, I sold my daughters old baby bathtub for $23 and the shipping was an additional First off, who on earth is going to pay $23 and then shipping when you can just go to Walmart or Target and get one for $20? How much would I have sold that for on Craigslist? Probably $5 maybe $10 if I was really lucky but I doubt it. I think people are honestly addicted to Ebay and love the whole bidding process which is why I think I've found more success with Ebay.
