Meldrum returned from Helsinki in Finland last week after spending a few days with his longtime friend. She broke down after Meldrum asked her about her visit to the cancer ward of the Royal Children's Hospital while she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer in 2005. "I remember where I was talking to some parents across the other side of a hospital bed. Their child was in the bed and I was saying the things that I would normally say in that situation," she told Meldrum.
